MISSION

Madurodam donates all of its revenue to charitable causes. The Madurodam Support Fund Society (Stichting Madurodam Steunfonds) determines which causes will receive support and assesses the requests. The Support Fund provides financial support to non-profit organisations for the general good that focus their activities on young people, or sustainable projects for the benefit of young people. Examples of current projects are the Youth Sports Fund (Jeugdsportfonds), The KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation (KNCV Tuberculosefonds) and the Cruyff Court Laakkwartier District (Cruyff Court Laakkwartier Den Haag) in The Hague, to name but a few.

Objective
The objective of the Madurodam Support Fund is to provide support and assistance in the broadest sense of the word, to institutions that have social, cultural or charitable interests in mind, in particular for the benefit of young people as referred to in Article 24 paragraph 4 of the Inheritance Tax Act 1956.

Conditions
The contribution must be intended for the purchase of durable consumer goods or clearly described projects in the field of healthcare, youth work, culture and integration, for the benefit of young people or for use by young people (both disabled and able bodied). Contributions are not given for the benefit of the elderly (both disabled and able bodied). Aid is primarily given to projects in the Netherlands and, in addition, to a limited degree, to aid projects abroad. The Madurodam Support Fund Society will not deal with any requests from people/private iniduals, but only those requests submitted by legal entities, that are not pursuing a commercial goal.

The Madurodam Support Fund Society does not contribute to/towards:

  • student associations
  • festivals or demonstrations
  • community centres
  • sports clubs, with the exception of disability sports
  • playgrounds, playground equipment (unless for disabled children)
  • bands and uniforms.

Expenditure Committee Local Youth Council
In order to also involve the Local Youth Council of Madurodam with the projects of the Madurodam Support Fund, there is an expenditure committee within the council. This committee is allocated a number of projects for assessment. During a joint meeting between the Support Fund and the expenditure committee, a final decision is taken about the support to be given to these projects.

History of the development of the Madurodam Support Fund Society
Since it was established in 1952, every year Madurodam donated its net profit to the Dutch Students Sanatorium in Laren. In 1964, this sanatorium closed its doors because tuberculosis no longer occurred in students. The Madurodam management made an expenditure committee responsible for the requests for financial support from charitable causes. In 1995, the Madurodam Support Fund Society was established as a continuation of this expenditure committee.
